Babytime and Storytime classes have begun - sign up today!

It’s that time of year again. As the older children are busy settling in to a new school year, the younger children are about to begin fun and engaging sessions of Fall Storytime at the Belmont County District Library.   Parents and caretakers of children up to five years old are invited to attend our weekly Storytime and Babytime sessions. These sessions are part of the Every Child Ready to Read @ your library initiative, which promotes the improvement of important literacy skills through activities like talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing. Each Storytime session will last between 30 minutes and 1 hour and will feature a story, singing, arts and crafts, and some simple activities designed to give children the opportunities they need to be ready to read.

Jenny R. Stoltey has taken over as Youth Services Coordinator for the Belmont County District Library system, and is the new Children’s Librarian at the main location in Martins Ferry. She is excited to share her love of reading with the Storytime Families and is available to address any questions or concerns the public may have. Storytime sessions began at the Martins Ferry location on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Registration is still open for this location, with sessions taking place on Wednesday and Friday at 11:00am. All children between the ages of 2 and 5 are welcome to attend. Babytime with Janet Hill begins on Thursday, September 24th, with sessions being held at 10:00am and 11:00 am weekly. Babytime is offered for children between the ages of 6 months and 2 years old.
